They've fallen... but they still get up!

One Foot in the Grave is the survival-horror role-playing game that puts you in the orthopedic shoes of the unlikeliest heroes: senior citizens. Trapped in the Saint Quietus Assisted Living Facility during a sudden zombie outbreak, you and your friends must navigate more than just thinning hair and memory lapses—you have to survive the night!

The Story So Far

It was supposed to be a quiet night of television on the third floor while the "Bingo crowd" gathered downstairs. But when Bill the aide returned from his break looking a little "under the weather" after a run-in with a local hobo, things went south fast. Bill passed away on his shift, woke up a lot more active, and began converting the staff and residents into flesh-eating monsters.

Now, the hallways of Saint Quietus are filled with the walking dead, and your options are limited:

  • Clear the House: Take out every zombie in the building.
  • The Great Escape: Track down Ed the Security Guard—who is currently hiding in terror—to get the master key card.
  • Yell "BINGO!": Literally. If you can fill your card before you’re consumed, the military might just show up to save you.

What You Need

  • Players: 3 to 8 survivors (plus 1 Event Coordinator).
  • Dice: A pile of d6s (preferably two different colors).
  • Sheets: Character sheets, Bingo cards, and pencils.
  • Tokens: Anything to track Wind, Chunks, and effects.
  • Mindset: You are old, tired… and being chased by zombies.

Game Info

Genre: Horror Comedy / Zombie Survival.

Setting: Assisted Living Facility under lockdown.

Core Mechanic: Dice pools (Oomph + Oops) with even-number successes.

Twist: Bingo can end the game instantly—one way or another.

Play Style: Tense, chaotic, and often hilarious survival.

Goal: Survive the night… or at least go out swinging.

Unique Features

  • The "Oomph" and "Oops" System: Build your dice pool based on your Past Life and Abilities like Grip, Reckon, and Shuffle. But watch out for the Oops die—roll a 1, and you’ll be facing a Random Disability like a sudden micro-nap, a bout of flatulence, or a "Spill" that leaves you waiting for help to get back up.
  • Resource Management: Every action costs Wind. If you run out, you’re "down for the count," and a single scratch could be fatal.
  • The Stink Factor: The more you Tussle with zombies, the more you start to smell like them. High Stink helps you blend in with the undead, but it might lead living survivors to take a swing at you by mistake!
  • Geriatric Gear: Defend yourself with whatever is lying around—from knitting needles and tissue boxes to the heavy-hitting floor lamps and bed pans.

Dedicated to George A. Romero and Tom Savini, One Foot in the Grave is 100% CGI-free and full of high-tension, senior-citizen survival.

Grab your walker. It’s going to be a long night.

Talk about 52 pages of fun! Creepy Doll Studios has managed to create a very legitimate, and really fun 'beer and pretzels' type game... One Foot in the Grave is easy to learn and quick to play. Because it is a location-based game, the Event Coordinator (EC) doesn't have to come up with endless maps... this game can be fun and started quickly.

This is a great one-shot game that should be just the diversion your group needs from slaying dragons or saving the universe. This is a great seasonal game to pick up and run a few times to create some comedic tension and some epic zombie vs. walker encounters.

OK, this is different. There are plenty of zombie games around, but in this one the live humans fending them off are—wait for it—senior citizens! Will their zimmer-frame assisted dodder be faster than a zombie shuffle? Neat concept, nicely executed... it's fun if you don't take it all too seriously!
